5 Healthier Alternatives

I myself find it hard to eat healthy sometimes. I think it has a lot to do with the inconvenience of healthy foods over junk foods. I've listed a few healthy alternatives that are pretty simple to follow!

French Fries vs. Sweet Potato Fries
French fries are one of the worst things you could eat! They're fried in grease and coated with a heavy amount of salt. A healthy alternative? Sweet potato fries! They're easy and quick to fix. Just cut up a sweet potato, stick them in the oven, and wa-lah! They can be lightly salted for taste but are yummy without it too!

Lettuce vs. Spinach
Lettuce is just pure water, which is good for you but spinach is even better! It is a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, magnesium, and several vital antioxidants. Fresh spinach just by itself is a tasty snack. To some, it's an acquired tasted. Spinach is also proven to help lower stress levels. I love pairing this green leaf with fresh strawberries and feta cheese!

M&M's vs. Blueberries
Craving something sweet? Ditch the M&M's and snack on some blueberries! Candy is always so convenient, so it can be easy to get carried away with eating to much of it. Blueberries are sweet and very healthy! They are rich in antioxidants which protect the brain from damaging free radicals and can help improve memory. Aim for a half cup of this blue fruit a day!

Chocolate Bar vs. Granola Bar
Chocolate is good for you every once in a while so why not grab a granola bar with chocolate chips? Granola has a good source of calcium and fiber. If you've ever been to the grocery store, you know that there's many kinds of granola and granola bars to chose from. Whole Foods and Fresh & Easy have the best and healthiest granola. Buy granola that contains sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, fruits, etc. Chocolate chips are okay too! It's a good way to get a small portion of sugar for the day!

Soda vs. Water
This one is a 'no brainer'. Soda contains high fructose corn syrup, phosphoric acid, caramel color, etc. All of which are bad for you in every way possible. Not only to your insides but to your teeth too! Turn to water when you're feeling thirsty! They say you need to drink roughly 10 cups per day! Have you drank enough water today?

There you have it! Seems simple right? Junk food is sometimes cheaper and more convenient but don't let it take over your life! Fast food is another bad habit to kick! Last year I realized I had really stopped eating a lot of fast food like Taco Bell, Burger King and Wendy's. I felt a lot better too! So, kick that fast food habit and start eating healthy! Your body will thank you for it!
