Horrible Training Experience.

Bad news. After training for two days at Buffalo Wild Wings, I decided to quit. I know that sounds really bad but just hear me out first!

The first day was cool. I trained with a really nice kid, Darren, who really helped me out with seating guests and learning the table layout of the restaurant. The second day rolls around and I walk in. First thing that kind of irritated me was that one of the managers acted like I worked there for a couple weeks. I walk into the office thinking she would tell me who I was training with and what section I'd be training in. Instead, she stared at the computer screen and after a couple minutes looked at me and said, "What's up..", as if I was bothering her. Completely rude and unorganized.

Second thing that made me mad; I was seating people and as we got busy, I helped bus tables. I was working my ass off and all of a sudden, the other busser, disappeared. Then as she re-appeared, she started telling me what to do. I would have a bunch of trash in my hands and she would tell me to go grab something at another table, as if I didn't have eyes and couldn't see that a table needed to be cleaned. She was the type of girl who works somewhere and likes to think she's cool because she's worked there a while and you're just the "trainee" so she can tell you what's up. Didn't fly with me. She was one of the many who didn't even introduce herself. Instead, she stood with the girl who was training me and gossiped and talked about her weekend as I just stood there. It was a super awkward situation.

Third, and one of the last things that made me decide I couldn't do it; the manager who was in charge of making sure the hosts and take out employees stayed organized was completely just RUDE. As a manager you should help the new employees when they have questions or need help with something. I go to clean off a dirty table with a ton of stuff on it and ask her if it'd be easier to just grab a tray to put everything on. She replied, "If you want?.." I said, "Okay, are they just in the back?" She looked at me like I was an idiot, raised her eyebrow and nodded her head. Okay lady. This is my second freaking day. If I don't know where the damn trays are, then SHOW me! At that point I had had it. I walked into the office and talked with the original manager who hired me. I told him I wasn't cut out for this job and it didn't help that his staff was rude. I think he was shocked because one of the things they are proud of there is being a "family". Well Buffalo Wild Wings, I don't know what your definition of a family is but I didn't feel welcomed AT ALL.

I'm sorry for my super long rant and if you read all of that, you're my hero. So for now, I'm just going to stick with the one job I have where I am respected and loved and get paid for what I love to do.

Has anyone else ever had an experience with a new job like I had?

Sorry it didn't work out, but at least you realized all this before you wasted any more time there. I know its tough working in food service and I definitely understand what you're saying. Glad you made the right decision for you! Good luck with your good job!

Have a great week!

Bummer! So sorry it didn't work out! I actually had an experience like that recently too, I was only doing a temporary duty at this place while one of the girls was out for two weeks for her wedding, and when I asked the owner where something was he looked at me like I was bothering him. I didn't feel welcome by any of the other staff, no one would really talk to me and they made me feel like the outcast since the rest of them seemed to already have their clicks. I told myself I'd finish the two weeks and if they asked me to come back I'd say no. Sure enough they did, and I said no! Sometimes it's just not worth it and I think it takes more to know that you aren't meant to be there. So kudos to you for knowing what's right.
At least you have one good job :)

That's a bummer :/ But at least you just went ahead and did it instead if sticking with it and getting more 'committed' later on. And I couldn't even imagine working/training somewhere where all the staff was rude and didn't help me. I'm the type of person who has tons of questions about everything becuase I want to get it right, so that definitely wouldn't fly with me either. At least you gave it a try though!

Oh I've definitely felt this way before! Never had the guts to quit even though I wish I would have. Do what makes you happy, that's what I always say. Life's too short to waste on a job that treats you bad.
Keep going girl!

All I have to say is be happy you quit. You were a host right? Let me tell you... being a host was the worst job I have ever had!!!!!!! Not only is it super boring, but it doesn't pay well. I used to get yelled at if I left the host stand just to go pee....

I agree ... do something you love rather than something that sucks... hahaha :)

Have a great rest of the week!
